| Notes |
Married:
- I spent a lot of time living with JV and Ruby when I was a little girl. Mom was working in Logan and I think Dad was in SLC. I just recall playing for hours with the tupperware bowls that Grandma Ruby kept in a cupboard that was low enough for me to reach. I remember going to visit Grandpa and Grandma Sorenson every Sunday night. We would watch The Wonderful World of Disney and Grandpa would often give us money to buy an ice-cream on the way home until the Prophet suggested that we stop buying things on Sunday.(Of course he followed the prophets insruction and would still slip us money for another time) I took numerous friends with me as I got older on Sunday nights and G & G never forgot their names and would often say Hi to them out and about in Logan. My friends thought that it was cool that my grandparents would remember them. Grandma always had a dish of candy and Grandpa always had a pill bottle full of my favortie kind of peanuts put in a special spot just for me. They took us to Lagoon on numerous occasions. Grandpas favortie cake was chocolate with whipped cream for frosting and coconut sprinkled on top. Grandma made the best pies in the world especially Apple, she would shred her apples and her crust was to die for. I love pie. Once when I was old enough to drive and Grandpa couldn't any more, he asked me to drive him to a funeral, we arrived before the casket, Grandpa always liked to be early for everything. Grandma was a avid reader, she always had a book around to read.

Doggie Treats...A Confession
Well lots of you probably remember Candy Grandma's dog, Silver. Silver and I had a lot in common; we lived in the same city, on the same street, and sometimes shared a yard. We both loved Candy grandpa and Candy Grandma very much. But the one thing that bonded us together was our love of doggie treats. I knew just where grandma kept them. The left hand lower cabinet next to the sink. Silver and I would sneak into the kitchen to get some, we would sneak because Grandma had all ready helped me give Silver some treats earlier but I knew that he probably needed some more...and what Grandma had forgotten was to give me some too. So Silver and I would help ourselves. Yes I loved that dog and I loved those treats. Today I still have fond memories of Silver buddy and Grandma's house but my love of doggy treats has completely left me. Thankfully. :)

Stealing Rocks
On the topic of candy grandma. I thought I would let you all know that I have returned the rocks I stole from Candy Grandma's garden. I used to work in her yard and take care of the rock garden. One year I decided to rearrange the rocks in her garden, but apparently she thought I was taking them out of the garden to steal them. In her defence though some of the rocks did have silver flakes, but I didn't think they would be worth my while to try and harvest so I left them there. Anyway, just a little tidbit. I have to admit though, Candy Grandma was a great gardener, and I owe everything I know about gardening to her. Oh, and buy the way she was especially great with African Violets, she was even in a club for it.

Red Licorice
I always enjoyed going to "Candy Grandma's" house and going to the tall jar with the orange lid for some licorice. For a while I think that was the only way to get me to go. She almost always had it stocked. Sometime the licorice was so hard you could take it outside and hit it on the cement and it would shatter. Other times it was just great. I loved to sit the green chairs in the dining room at eat it. I always think on her when I get a bag on twizzlers strawberry licorice.

Parmesian Cheese
During the last few years that "Candy Grandma" (as many called her) lived in her house, I had the oppurtunity of cleaning it for her on Saturdays. Frequently my cousin, Joni, and I would clean out her fridge. The first time we did this we threw out quite a bit of food, but nothing was scarier then the date on the Parmesian Cheese can...1976!! Keep in mind, this was about the year 2000. The can was older than both Joni and I. We didn't dare open it for fear of the smell, so we'll never know for sure what was in there. We also pulled out vegetables and such which had mold on them. Candy Grandma just looked at them and told us they were just fine. So, when she left the room, we threw them out anyway.
